Welcome to St Mark’s church, Leeds, a Grade II listed building. Situated a five minute walk from the University of Leeds’ Parkinson Building, the location is convenient for conferences, exam space, private functions and more. The building is used and owned by Gateway Church. It has easy access from Leeds city centre and is served by a number of regular bus routes.

The building has been finished to a high specification and features a fully functioning kitchen, a refreshment service with qualified chef, underfloor heating, media facilities, parking for the disabled and event organisers, disabled access and a hearing loop system.

There are three rooms available in St Mark’s that can be used for different functions with or without the kitchen. Alternatively, the whole building can be booked.  Scroll down to find out more.

main hall

The Main Hall makes up the centre of the building. Large and spacious, it offers seating for up to 240 people. A beautiful room with high ceilings and pillars, it is fitted with a stage area, audio visual equipment, underfloor heating and powerful, adjustable lighting, making it ideal for large party events as well as conferences and more. This room is separated from the reunion room (café area) by sound proofed folding glass doors which open all the way out to make a larger room that can seat up to 300.

The room also benefits from a hearing loop system.

the upper room

This room is on the upper floor and can seat up to 150 people. It has a wooden “sprung ” floor that makes it ideal for dance classes or similar events.  There is also a table tennis table and table football, and ball games (using a soft ball) can be played . The room also benefits from high ceilings, underfloor heating, zoned lighting and is equipped with sound equipment.

the reunion room

The smallest of the three rooms, this room can seat up to 60 people. It can be used as a welcome and break-out room in conjunction with the main hall or as a separate space for a variety of functions. It is often used as a cafe area and there is a serving hatch linking the room with the adjoining kitchen.

Additional Fees

  1. An estimated cleaning charge will be added to your booking.
  • £15 an hour cleaning charge
  • £22 an hour for cleaning in unsocial hours (minimum of 6 hrs charged after a wedding)


2. Use of the PA system requires an in-house technician and incurs an additional charge. Please state your PA requirements at the time of booking.

  • £30 for first hour
  • £15 an hour after that


3. If it is deemed that your event will entail us being unable to hire out alternative rooms during your event, you will need to cover the cost of hiring these

4. Call out fee to set up after an event is a minimum of £30.


Charity Discount

A 20% discount (not including the additional fees) is available for registered charities.
