Over the past few years, our staff team has grown and changed. In 2019, we want to help you get to know the Gateway team! Each month a few of our blogs will introduce you to a different staff member. This week we will be meeting Joey Williams.
Joey, what is your job title?
I am the Youth Outreach Worker.
Can you briefly explain your job to us?
I lead the church youth work and the youth outreach for the church. This includes our Tuesday after school drop in for the local high school and our Friday night youth club.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I love going into the local high school on Tuesday’s to lead our lunch group there, the school is so diverse and the young people are great. I love it!
What is your favourite Bible verse or story? Why is it your favourite?
I love the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17) and how David knew the God that he was fighting for. It shows me that it doesn’t matter how old you are, what you look like or how strong you are, you can always be used by God.
What do you like to do to relax after your work day?
I have a cup of tea with a pack of biscuit whilst playing FIFA.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
It would have to be an Olympic sport in eating custard creams.
Joey works for Gateway on Tuesday and Fridays. He and his wife Alice also volunteer on our Connect team on Sundays.
